Supreme Court Justices in the Trump Era are More Openly Political

While the Liberals on the Court are leading the charge with the politicization, they are not alone

Most lawyers hold the United States Supreme Court in the highest regard. This is particularly true for young lawyers. In the past, most law students viewed the Court with a solemn reverence enjoyed by few. I remember that reverence from my time in law school. In past years, the American public also held the Court in high regard.

In the Trump Era, the High Court may be losing some of its luster, in large part due to the overtly political statements being made by Justices. A few illustrations of these politically-charged statements make the point.

THE LATE JUSTICE GINSBURG’S ATTACKS ON TRUMP

Liberal icon, the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, engaged in the most direct, overtly political, biased attacks of any member of the Court in the modern era. Of course, her venom was directed at then candidate Donald J. Trump. In comments made in a series of interviews in July 2016, she attacked the GOP Presidential Nominee.
