Discover How Polling in the Era of Trump is Just More Propaganda
Polling is supposed to reflect public opinion, but today it is often used to try to shape it
When President Trump reached the 100 day mark in this his second term, Fake News Media and their counterparts in the Democrat Party went into overdrive pushing the narrative that Trump is the most “unpopular President” ever. These claims were based on selected public opinion polls. The polls were misinformation and, sadly, this was not the first time bad polling was used to push a leftist narrative. In the “age of Trump” public opinion polling from the many of the prominent legacy media polling outfits is slanted heavily toward Democrats and the left. The results repeatedly favor the Democrats and leftists causes. The Fake News Media and Democrat politicians then use these dubious polls to try to influence public opinion in their favor. Let’s take a closer look.
THE FAKE NEWS
President Trump reached the 100 day mark of his second term at the end of April 2025. Predictably, the Fake News Media trotted out polls supposedly showing massive drops in President Trump’s favorability. A few illustrations are in order.
In an April 27, 2025 article, Fake News heavyweight CNN, claimed Trump’s approval at 100 days to be lower than any president in seventy (70) years:
The article was based on polls commissioned by CNN itself. CNN claimed its polling showed President Trump had a 41% approval rating, which it claimed to be the lowest for any president at 100 days “. . . dating back at least to Dwight Eisenhower . . .:”
Another perennial Fake News superstar, NPR, claimed in an article published on April 29, 2025, again based on its own polling, that Americans gave Trump an "F" for his first 100 days:
According to NPR, President Trump’s approval rating is “. . . down to 42%, including just 36% among independents.” NPR claims this is the lowest approval rating dating all the way back to President Harry Truman, except for Trump’s first term:
Fake News stalwart MSNBC, and its Democrat talking head Jen Psaki, claimed on April 27, 2025, that Trump’s polling slumped after 100 days of disaster:
These are just a few of the articles and broadcasts pushing this narrative. There are a host more, including articles/reports from The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Newsweek, The Washington Post, ABC News and the rest of the “usual suspects” in the Fake News Media.
Democrat politicians, including Rep. Jamie Raskin, Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and more, seized on these polls to push the narrative that Trump is supposedly the most unpopular president in history. (These polls exist, in my opinion, to create media talking points to favor the Democrats and the left generally. Fake News Media and Democrats immediately cite them without any regard for the historical inaccuracy of the polls or for conflicting data.)
THE TRUTH
If one considers polls from the most accurate pollsters, President Trump’s approval rating is not underwater, in fact, his approval matches that of former President Obama at the start of his second term, however, President Trump’s policies are more popular giving him room to improve his polling numbers. This is covered in a recent article in The Washington Examiner:
The public opinion pollsters with the most accurate track records in the Trump era all show President Trump’s approval holding strong in the 46% to 50% range. Recent polling results from accurate pollsters are listed below with screenshots from the data compilation at RealClearPolling.
Rassmussen Reports has President Trump at 51% approval and 48% disapproval as of May 8, 2025:
Quantus Insights has President Trump at 48% approval and 48% disapproval as of May 7, 2025:
Big Data Poll has President Trump at 48% approval and 47% disapproval as of May 5, 2025:
RMG Research has President Trump at 49% approval and 49% disapproval as of May 8, 2025:
Trafalgar/InsiderAdvantage has President Trump at 46% approval and 44% disapproval as of May 1, 2025:
The Fake News Media REFUSES TO REPORT on these accurate polls. As Matt Towery with InsiderAdvantage recently stated in an interview with Sean Hannity there is a blackout on accurate pollsters:
Towery stated:
Other industry leaders are also calling out the polling abuses and manipulation.
In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mark Mitchell with the polling firm Rasmussen Reports went further. He posted on May 5, 2025 that MSM pollsters dumped extra-hostile polls against Trump, in what he characterized as an “op:”
In a repost of these Rasmussen Reports polling results, noted public opinion pollster Rich Baris (The People's Pundit), who operates one of the most accurate polling firms in America, Big Data Poll, confirmed his opinion that many of the so-called “mainstream” pollsters are not just bad at their jobs, they are lying:
Robert Cahaly, founder of the Trafalgar Group (another of the most accurate polling firms cited above) suggested in a recent interview that the polls from these wildly inaccurate polling firms are being promoted to try to convince Republicans to abandon President Trump:
When multiple industry experts from some of the most accurate polling firms operating today call out their peers for manipulating polling, you know without a doubt the industry has a problem.
The problem for the Fake News Media, Democrats and Never Trumpers (and manipulative pollsters) is too many Americans know the legacy media polls are garbage.
On May 4, 2025, Rasmussen Reports posted polling results on its X social media account confirming 71% of likely voters believe it is “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that pollsters “adjust their results to fit political narratives:”
As the Rasmussen Reports survey referenced above shows, over 70% of likely voters believe polls are often manipulated for political purposes. People are smarter than leftists in media newsrooms think. Voters are on to the media’s polling scams.
Legacy Media Polling is Pro-Democrat Propaganda
Keep in mind, the polling “errors” from legacy media pollsters almost always favor Democrats. I wrote an article about this issue on this substack shortly before the 2024 Presidential Election and highlighted the MASSIVE polling errors in 2016 and 2020 by many of the same polling firms that FALSELY CLAIMED Kamala Harris held a lead in the 2024 Presidential race. Those polls from the same firms posting MASSIVE polling misses in favor of Democrats in 2016, 2020 & 2024, are now touted by media and Democrats to claim President Trump is unpopular.
The end result is much of the polling touted by legacy media outlets is outright propaganda. Importantly, many prominent pollsters from accurate polling firms are calling out the bad pollsters. This is an important development to returning integrity to the polling industry.
Conclusion
I wrote extensively about polling propaganda over the last several years. In fact, three chapters in the first book in the three volume Fake News Exposed about Trump book series deal with Fake News polling. I wrote about it previously on this substack as well. Chances are, I will need to write about polling misinformation in the future, since the Fake News Media and leftist politicians simply refuse to drop BS polls from their political misinformation campaigns. But, the tide is turning as Americans gain awareness of the misuse of polls and as the accurate pollsters publicly call out the bad actors in the industry.
At the end of my last substack article about polling data, I observed:
If you want accurate, unbiased polling data, here are a few suggestions to check out: Rich Baris and Big Data Polls, Trafalgar Group, and Atlas Intel. There are a few more who work hard to be accurate and unbiased, but start with these.
That remains good advice. There are more good pollsters, many of whom are highlighted in this article, but start there.
Meanwhile, do not believe a word any legacy media hacks say about polling, public opinion or polling data. Most of the time they are lying to you.
(My most recent book Fake News Exposed: 25 of the Worst Media Lies about Conservatives, Guns, COVID and Everything Else is available at Amazon. You may also pick up a copy of one of my other books at Amazon as well.)
I knew those polling percentages were fake. The fake news media think that the public as a whole is ignorant. The are so ate up with Trump hatred the can't accept that Trump is very popular. Thanks for exposing them once again. Keep up the good work.
